Snood Central

While she was visiting over the Christmas holidays, my DD asked for a few scrub caps with an attached snood for her long hair. She finds them comfortable to wear in the surgery suite.  She went shopping in my formidable stash and came up with some 100% cotton prints that she liked.

It didn't take long to draft a pattern for a scrub hat with an attached snood that could be closed with a ribbon. I elasticized the base of the the snood with 1/4 inch elastic to keep it snug around her hair.

While writing this 'blog post I found a photo on the internet (from the Blue Sky website) to show you how such a scrub cap is worn. My design is different from theirs, but works just fine.

Here are three hats that I made and mailed off to my DD. The frog print one in the center was my prototype.

She is thrilled with them. Mission accomplished.

My favorite combo: practical and feminine. I am thinking this would make a good cancer hat. The snood could be packed with a soft filler and give the feeling and the look of having hair.
