A machine knitting project as I inch my way up that learning curve--a one piece baby cardigan for our grandbaby.

Knit on Brother KH860 standard gauge knitting machine with hand-crocheted edging

I used Knit It Now’s Dynamic Pattern: Kids One Piece Chipmunk Cardi. It’s easy to enter the gauge and have the pattern instructions calculated based on that gauge.

This is the second baby sweater I’ve knit with the Knit It Now Dynamic patterns. This pattern had an error in it, and when I pointed that out to Sue, the owner of Knit It Now, she quickly made the correction and gave me the companion course at no charge. She couldn’t have been more helpful.

When I made my first Knit it Now Baby Sweater, I had decided not to purchase a course for a pattern which I had already purchased from them or which was available for free. But this time around, when I saw the amount of information presented in the course gifted to me, I quickly became a believer. It was a great learning experience especially for a machine knitter of my skill level (advanced beginner). I will be purchasing their companion courses in the future until I become more sure of myself as a machine knitter.

For some of the other items that I’ve machine knit, I’ve spent hours surfing You Tube and replaying parts of Craftsy machine knitting courses to figure out certain techniques. With the companion course from Knit It Now, I didn’t have to do that. Everything was well demonstrated and taught, using wonderful videos and without the hassle of Googling or You-Tubing.

Carriage (Machine) Tension: 7
Mast Tension: 0

Trim is hand crocheted.

It took just over 2 skeins to knit this sweater. Since the skeins are hand dyed, the two skeins differed slightly in colorway intensity. I striped the two skeins, 10 rows each, throughout the sweater.

I’m happy with the final product--the sweater is pretty and soft and I’m sure my daughter will love dressing her baby in it.

I have buttons in my stash which would go well with the sweater, but don’t want to take the risk of putting buttons on a toddler’s sweater.

How adorable. I quite like Knit it Now. I've learned a lot between that and the Craftsy classes. I'm about where you are, advanced beginner. It's a little humbling considering how much better I am at sewing. But, a good reminder about learning :D
