A Few Answers

Thank you all so much for your gratifying comments on my simple little mermaid print skirt. I'm going to answer a few questions

1. The skirt is, I believe, a rayon blend. It was in the sale room at Paron's Annex, and stuff is kind of jumbled in there. It has the look and hand of a rayon blend, and does not wrinkle appreciably, which is nice.

2. The motifs are fairly large, about 9 inches or so in the longest direction. Here is a photo of the fabric all laid out:

With such large motifs, a circle skirt is great, because you really don't see them all at once. You have more of an appreciation of line and color that way.

3. The skirt is 27 inches long, which hits me mid calf.

4. When I say I lined the waist to the edge, I mean that there is no waistband or facing. I just fused stay tape on the fashion fabric's seamline and sewed the lining to the fashion fabric at the waistline seam.

5. The purchased top and cardigan are a filigree knit. The top is a double layer, but is still sort of see-through, so I wear a bodysuit underneath. The matching cardigan is single layer. The manufacturer is Lost River Clothing Company. I purchased it at a local boutique.

That's it for now. More posts to come.

That is a lovely dress. You put such couture details into your garments. Would you mind posting what your sewing background is?
