The Large Mouth Bass Afghan

As soon as I finished the Mermaid afghan for my 7-year-old granddaughter-to-be, it turned out so cute that I had to find a similar pattern for my 9 year-old grandson-to-be. As I explained in my last post, my stepdaughter is marrying a man with two young children in April, so I'll be an official grandmother by then (my daughter's dogs don't count as grandkids...well, maybe they do.  :)  )

Anyway, at the same crochet store on Ravelry, I found a Large Mouth Bass Afghan pattern. Here's a promo photo from the website.
I made a larger afghan for the 9-year-old boy child:

Fortunately both the Large Mouth Bass and the Mermaid Afghans can be made in a weekend, so I finished them just under the wire, since next week will be devoted to hunting/gathering/cooking for the family to arrive. The instructions say both afghans can be made in 4 to 5 hours. I'm an experienced crocheter, and 12-14 hours is more realistic.

Now for the specifics:
