Bubble Wrap:
A Machine Knitted Shawl

I've been telling myself that I've got to get back to my sewing projects, but that knitting machine is still singing a siren song for me. This project literally fell into my lap via email, and I couldn't resist.

This Bubble Wrap pattern was given to me by a Ravelry friend to test, and I immediately fell in love with it, making a swatch and then finding yarn that would best suit it.

Here's the swatch that I did from leftovers from a knitting project.
Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock lightweight sock yarn in the Robin's Egg Blue colorway:

Then I made the long shawl:

Yarn: 2 skeins Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn in the Hunter colorway
90% merino 10% nylon (100gm/400 meters per skein)
Knitting Machine: Brother KX350 midgauge knitting machine (7mm)
Pattern: from ridelikethewind on Ravelry. Contact her to purchase the pattern if interested.

This was such a fun project to knit. The instructions are perfectly written, as are all of ridelikethewind's  patterns, especially for a beginner like myself.

The shawl itself is so soft and very drapey, and I'm loving wearing it. The color is absolutely fabulous, a rich bluish-green with turquoise highlights. I fiddled with the color of the photos to try to show it as true as possible, but they still don't do that vibrant beautiful color justice.

I love this stitch pattern so much that I'm thinking of knitting a long piece of it and cut/sewing it into a lacy vest. The little machine knitting devil is sitting on one shoulder whispering in my ear while the little sewing angel is sitting on the other shoulder pouting. (smile)

This is gorgeous and please keep sharing your machine knitting! It's fascinating to see what sewists who knit on knitting machines are making.
