A couple of answers

Hi: Would you please tell those of us who don't know what you mean by RPL doubleknit? I would like to line some upcoming knit projects, but I don't know what to use. I don't want to make my dresses too warm. Thanks, Judi

RPL stands for the fabric content: rayon-polyester-lycra. There are many knits and knit-woven fabrics that have that rayon/poly/lycra content. The Sophia knit is a doubleknit fabric with that same content. The Sophia knit is available at several fabric stores and at Fabric.com on the internet, among other places. Googling it brings up many sites where it is sold.

I like to line or partially line knit dresses because I think it helps to keep their shape. In other garments I have lined the Sophia knit with Ambiance, a rayon lining available at The Sewing Place and other sites as well as fabric shops. It works well too.

The lining for the purple dress is a silk charmeuse with a bit of lycra in it, which is perfect for the more fitted sheath dress because it has just slightly less give than the knit does. I just happened upon it in my stash and was thrilled!

Hi,Love your quilt! Could you please advise what method you used to hang it on the wall? I'm wondering why the top corners are not drooping down? Thanks, Christine

I stuck the quilted wallhanging on the wall using 3 of those 3M Command poster hanger strips. Basically they are two Velcro layers with that wall-protecting sticky stuff on the outside. I stuck one side to my quilt and the other to the wall at the top point and the two topmost side points of the wallhanging and then just pressed the Velcro surfaces together. It worked well. Here's a photo:

I bought the 3M Command poster hanger strips at Lowe's. They are available at Office Max, Staples, etc. office supply stores.

Thanks to each and every one of you for your encouraging and delightful comments! I am always overwhelmed at the kindnesses of fellow sewists. You all make sharing my projects even more fun.

Kathryn

I just discovered your blog via Carolyn (Diary of a Sewing Fanatic), and I signed up for your RSS feed right away! Your projects are gorgeous, plus all of the information you provide is invaluable. I feel like I'm in a master sewing class. :-) I have a quick question about the purple knit dress -- I usually think of knits as "throw in the washer" clothes, but with the lining and applique, is your dress "dry clean only"?
